Putting Up With Anything

Is it only me who wants to know what is going on with British Airways? I mean how does it manage to make a loss of some £140 million in the same time period that low cost no frills airline Ryanair makes a profit of £48 million? Now I know BA operates all over the world and Ryanair has relative few destinations, but on the ones it does operate, BA is a competitor.
BA's answer is to cut food on short haul flights to save £22 million, but that is not strictly true. They will not be saving £22 million they will be ripping off their already ripped off'd customers to the tune of £22 million. You see right now your BA ticket includes what they laughably call in-flight food, so if they stop doing food will they lower the ticket price? I don't think so, they will keep the ticket price the same so in effect, us the customers will be getting even less for our money than we did before. So BA will not be saving £22 million, we the customers will be giving them £22 million. How do you feel about that?
When will airlines realise they charge too much and provide a very poor service in return. I know I can hear all the executives saying that in real terms flights now are cheaper than they have ever been and that maybe true. Maybe airfares have always been far too expensive, maybe there was a lot of development costs in setting up the very first airlines, but on thing is for sure they are far to bloody expensive now. Okay you get 300 films and scores of TV channels to watch and you get a free drink and a micro small packed of savory snacks. But is that really an all round quality service? I mean has anyone worked out how EndFragmentStartFragmentto get a seat with extra leg room in economy, there seems to be no standard procedure to allocate these seats, they will tell you there is, but in reality there isn't its down to the person at the check in desk. Or have you tried to change seats to sit next to a friend or family member at check in, you have got no chance. Why is it on some airlines you can book your seat when you pay for the flight and on others you have to wait until 24 hours before the flight. How about this, buy two business class tickets for £5,000 and then when one of the people can't make the return trip you try and switch the tickets to someone else, again no chance, you have to buy another ticket. If BA and any other airline want to make money it should lower its prices, ditch the fancy stuff and start providing a real service for its customers.
Ryanair succeeds not because is better than BA or any other airline, its because its cheap and when you are paying low prices for flights you will put up with just about anything.EndFragment
